The client

Burges Salmon is an independent UK law firm that uses innovation to improve the service it provides to clients and the working experience of its people. Streamlining IT is an important part of that approach. The firm focuses investment on practical improvements that make day-to-day work more efficient while protecting the information and services its teams rely on.

The challenge

Mobile phones play an important role in helping Burges Salmon’s people work while away from a desk. As part of its continued focus on the Digital Employee Experience, the firm decided to replace its existing Mobile Device Management product with a cost-effective Microsoft solution for managing corporate mobile devices securely.

The technology choice was only part of the challenge. Burges Salmon needed confidence that the migration design met its requirements and that moving iPhone management would have as little impact as possible on employees. The change therefore had to be carefully planned, tested and communicated, with a clear handover to the in-house team that would manage the platform after migration.

The solution

Burges Salmon selected Virtual Engine to migrate its corporate mobile-device management to Microsoft Intune. Virtual Engine worked collaboratively with the firm’s internal IT team, incorporating design decisions and adapting quickly when requirements changed.

The joint team thoroughly tested the migration process before the wider move began. This gave Burges Salmon the assurance it needed to communicate with employees and arrange the transition in a controlled and timely way. The platform was implemented with the intention that Burges Salmon’s own team would manage and maintain it after completion, so knowledge transfer and confidence in the final design were central to the engagement.

The result

Burges Salmon completed the move to Microsoft Intune swiftly and seamlessly, while minimising disruption to its people. The collaborative delivery approach gave the internal IT team confidence that the design met the firm’s requirements and that employee impact had been properly considered.

Following the migration, Burges Salmon retained day-to-day ownership of the platform. The firm gained a Microsoft-aligned, cost-effective foundation for managing its corporate mobile devices, while its internal team had the knowledge and assurance needed to operate the environment after handover.
